To my husband; who never ceases to surprise me
Close to a week ago, I started the journey to the 20th year since I tied the knot with a very dear friend.
I promised to stay by my best friend's side till the end of times. It was a huge undertaking and I panicked. "I don't know him, but I know it's him. I have only seen him about half a dozen times in the past 3 years, always with others and never alone, what I know of him is as a member of a group", "well it's too late now, you can't possibly abandon him at this time; don't worry, it happens to everyone, it will be just fine, you do not need to "know" him, every day will be a journey of discovery and surprises".

So there I was, calming my nerves, telling me not to worry, "he is a gentleman, he'll treat you well", and he had. He had remained true and so have I. He had stayed and cared, he had loved and respected, he had teased and shared, he has never raised his his voice or his hands except in excitement or for a hug. As the days rolled by and the years came, one after the other, and the grey set in; he still loves me, he still tells me everyday; he still tells me how beautiful I have made his life by being a part of it.
I tell him the same, I love him too; I have cared and I have shared, I have hoped and I have found, the essence of life by being his wife. Each new day have been a journey of discovery, each one with its own surprises. I look forward to the next 20 years, maybe another 20 years, of days full of new discoveries and just as surprising as the very first day..

Daily Quote - Inspiration is a now thing.
Inspiration is a magical thing, a productivity multiplier, a motivator. But it won't wait for you. Inspiration is a now thing. If it grabs you, grab it right back and put it to work.________Jason Fried

Daily Quotes - Our Strange Situation.
To know that what is impenetrable to us really exists, manifesting itself to us as the highest wisdom and the most radiant beauty, which our dull faculties can comprehend only in their most primitive forms - this knowledge, this feeling is at the centre of all true religiousness. In this sense, and in this sense only, I belong to the ranks of devoutly religious men.

I am human
Everyday of my life, I meet people , new people, some are very good, some are not so wonderful, some come with preformed prejudices, some come with clean intentions. I am who I am, regardless of what the next new person thinks. I am female, I am black, I am veiled, I am large, I am mum, I am wife, I work full time.
I believe that the world didn't happen by accident, I believe that there is a purpose for it, I believe I am small, when compared to the rest of the universe but at the same time, I believe I am big; important; unique.
The maker made me for a purpose, the world will not be the same without me. I am worth the attention the maker put into ensuring that I am not like anyone else. I am me, I am different, I am not perfect, I make mistakes, sometimes I learn from them, sometimes I don't, most important is that I am allowed. I am human!

Challenging our Self Limiting Beliefs
If we do not change the ways by which we do things, nothing in our life will change. It is easy to remain in our comfort zone and repeat the same things over and over again and of course, get the same results over and over again. One area in which I have struggled is in the area of managing my weight, I start on a diet, I lose some weight, it gets too expensive or too monotonous, I revert back to my old ways and gain even faster than I ever did before the diet; it's as though my body have gone into starvation mode and wants to keep everything I put into it, just in case I start one of those "silly" diets again.
So today, I am coaching myself; I have re-affirmed my goal to loose 10kg in the next 1 month. I am going to eat the food I enjoy and I will exercise, only doing activities that I enjoy, I am not going to waste my money on any fancy diets and I am going to succeed and achieve this goal. I can hear some of you already saying it is not possible, or it is not realistic. I can hear myself saying the same too.
Why do we limit our chances at succeeding at a goal by immediately bringing forth our self limiting beliefs? Whenever we think of succeeding at anything, our doubts and fears quickly creep in, cloud our vision and prevent us from going forth on our way. How can we prevent these beliefs from taking charge? We become our focus; if we believe it is impossible, then it becomes impossible. If for a moment, we believe it is possible; we start seeing solutions and ways of achieving the set goal.
The human mind has a huge capacity to succeed at almost any thing it sets out to achieve, but first, it has to succeed at challenging the beliefs that limits it's progress; the negative voice within. As for the weight loss, it is a matter for another day, I will keep you posted on the progress, that is a promise.

Stop and Look
In our very busy lives, how often do we remember to stop and look?
From our waking to our sleeping, from breakfast to tea time, from school run in the mornings to pick up in the afternoons, from reporting to work and the close of a hectic day; how often do we have the chance to look around and actually take in our surroundings?
When was the last time we looked at the green landscapes, the blue skies with white clouds, the break of dawn and the setting sun, the starry nights and even the moonless ones, the chirping birds and the buzzing bees; the mix of wonderful sounds that can only be heard when we quietly listen and the myriads of colour that can only be appreciated when we purposefully look.
It is very easy, if we do not try, to pass through life, only experiencing the chaos and not seeing the beauty of it as it daily unfolds. It is free, it costs nothing and it's reward is immense. How can we let these free sights go?
This is a call for us to stop, take a deep breathe in, look around, smile, its a beautiful world out there, take it in while you still can.

Planning Ahead
When does your week start? Is it Sunday or Monday? Mine starts on Sunday.
What I find most useful is to sit down on Saturday evening, for about an hour, review the week that has just ended, cross off finished tasks(that is the nicest bit), appraise unfinished tasks, why didn't I finish them? What were the obstacles? How can I overcome these obstacles next time? This is also when I finalize the list for the upcoming week.
What are my goals for the upcoming week? When in the week do I need to achieve them? What will I need to carry out the tasks, are there things I need to prepare in advance?
Lastly be flexible and realistic, do not overburden yourself, put things on the list that you absolutely enjoy and these are your time for relaxation, life doesn't have to be a list of tasks, there is so much more to it than that.
